Scott Smith
Scott Smith has worked in the mental health field since 1993. In the past, he has worked as a counselor, supervisor, consultant, trainer, and business owner in a variety of settings (i.e. community outpatient – mental health & substance abuse, adult and juvenile corrections, court systems, and outpatient-based medically assisted treatment, private practice, inpatient residential substance abuse). He is experienced in helping adolescent and adult clients with the following: anxiety, stress reduction, depression, feeling "stuck," childhood and family issues, self injury (e.g., "cutting"), couple's issues, adolescent adjustment, TOVA (Test of Variable of Attention) Testing for ADHD/ADD, migraine headaches, grief/bereavement, low self-esteem and confidence, trauma (flashbacks, nightmares, intrusive thoughts), anger management, assertiveness skills, offending treatment, substance abuse, past victimization (sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse), past traumatic events (PTSD), and behaviors associated with legal system. His work is based on the eclectic principles of Cognitive Behavioral Treatment (CBT), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), Feeling State Addiction Protocol [FSAP - EMDR], DeTur-EMDR, Chronic Pain - EMDR, and Brainspotting therapy to treat various concerns (e.g., trauma, childhood abuse, spousal abuse, sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, combat trauma, addiction, loss, and migraine headaches), Hypnosis or Hypnotherapy (i.e. Five Path, Seven Path, Ego State Hypnotherapy), Progressive Relaxation for Stress Management, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), Client-Centered Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Object Relations Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
